Mariposa Students Participate in Think of Me Road Safety Campaign
When you visit your local LCBO this season, you might notice a few decorated bags. Several Mariposa classes took part in decorating paper bags to promote the #ThinkofMe campaign. The paper bags were decorated with positive messages to make people stop and think before they drink and drive this holiday season.
Congratulations to grade 5 student, Carley Swan, for her winning design!
Did you know that crashes involving alcohol and/or drugs are the leading criminal cause of death in Canada? On average, approximately four people are killed each day in crashes involving alcohol and/or drugs. You can do your part this holiday season by not drinking and driving. Let everyone have a happy holiday this year.
The bags are distributed through local LCBO stores during the holidays, in the hope that they’ll encourage customers to think about drinking responsibly.
Special thanks to Constable Carrie Lanning, Community Safety Officer at the City of Kawartha Lakes OPP Detachment Special and to MADD Canada for their contribution to this project.
