A friendly reminder that there is no school on Monday, October 12th. We look forward to seeing everyone back at school on Tuesday!
Have a safe and happy long weekend!

Thank you for supporting Mariposa Elementary!
Please Leave Jelly Squishies at Home
We kindly ask that students leave all jelly squishy toys at home instead of bringing them to school.
While we know these popular fidget toys are fun, we have recently had several of them burst open in classrooms. The liquid inside is causing permanent damage to school desks and classroom materials, as well as creating messy cleanups for our staff.
To help us keep our learning spaces clean and free from damaged furniture, please ensure these items stay at home. If a student requires a sensory tool or fidget for classroom focus, please reach out to your child’s teacher so we can provide or approve a clean, mess-free alternative.
Thank you for your understanding and cooperation!
Hot Lunch Reminder
Please remember our Tuesday and Thursday lunches alternate the vendors. If you are ordering pizza and want it each week, you will need to place an order under Pizza Pizza and an order under Gino’s in order to have pizza each week for your child. Thursday one week is Boston Pizza (pasta/chicken fingers) and the other week is Quesada.
SOAR – Food Drive
The SOAR (Student Organized Awareness Response) club is organizing a food drive for the Little Britain Food Bank. All non-perishable items are welcome, but the following are in particular need:
- canned fruitÂ
- canned vegetableÂ
- canned meals (Beefaroni, alphagettis)Â
- canned beans
A reminder to check expiration dates. We cannot accept any food past its date.
Special contest for the class that brings in the most items!
The food drive will run until Nov. 2.

Sports Events After School
Please remember, if students are staying after school to watch our team play, a parent must be with them as our coaches are only able to supervise the players. This includes if siblings/friends are wanting to stay. A parent of that sibling/friend or another adult you have made arrangements with ahead of time, is responsible for them.
Intermediate Concert Band kicks off this week!
Grade 7’s and 8’s are very excited to have concert band start this week. Band will take place at 8:00 am each Thursday until our concert in December. Every grade 7 and 8 has been provided an instrument that they are learning in class- many are second year players. This is a great opportunity for our band to make beautiful music together this year!

- Punctuality Matters: Please ensure your child arrives at school on time. We have a strict departure schedule so the team is not delayed.

Spectator & Parking Guidelines for Families:
If you are planning to attend as a spectator, please read the official park guidelines below carefully:
- General Parking: Parking is not permitted along the south side of Kenrei Road (including the hill, base, or top of the hill). Municipal By-law Enforcement will be patrolling and issuing tickets.
- Parking is available inside Ken Reid Conservation Area or in the municipal lot directly outside the entrance.
- Additional parking is located at the intersection of Angeline Street and Thunder Bridge Road. Guests are strongly encouraged to use this lot and carpool.
- Please note: Most spectators will need to walk into the park from the parking areas, as Kawartha Conservation does not provide shuttle service.
- Accessible Parking: Parents or grandparents requiring accessible parking are welcome to park in the top lot by the team shelter area under strict conditions:
- You must arrive at the park before 9:00 AM.
- You cannot leave until all races are completely finished for the day. You must remain parked for the entire duration of the event.
Terry Fox Fundraising and Celebration
Our fundraising for cancer research and the Terry Fox Foundation continues! Currently we have raised $3905! Awesome work Monarchs! This Thanksgiving weekend is the perfect time to get any last minute donations from family.
Fundraising will close on Tuesday, October 13th. On Friday, October 16th we will gather outside to celebrate our efforts. Families are welcome to join us. We will meet on the pavement of the Junior/Intermediate yard at approximately 1:20 pm to begin our celebration. We will begin by taping Mr. Cadeau-Mark to a wall with help from all the children who donated a toonie for Terry. If we reach our goal of $4000, participating staff will wear SUPER SILLY COSTUMES and compete in an obstacle course relay for all to witness and enjoy!
