Long Weekend


Just a friendly reminder that we have a four-day long weekend coming up. The school will be closed during this time, and there will be no classes or office services available. We hope everyone enjoys the extended break and look forward to welcoming students back refreshed and ready to learn!

Grade 8 Trip

Our Grade 8 students are gearing up for their much-anticipated end-of-year trip to Blue Mountain, and we need your help to get them there! We are thrilled to announce the launch of our Little Caesars Pizza Kit Fundraiser. It’s the perfect way to stock your freezer with easy weeknight meals while supporting our graduating class. Here is everything you need to know:


Important Dates to Remember

  • Keep an Eye Out: Information flyers will be sent home with students next week.
  • Campaign Dates: We officially kick off on Monday, April 6, and all orders must be submitted by Monday, April 27.
  • Pizza Pickup: Orders will be ready for collection the week of May 11 (stay tuned for the specific date and time!).

Grade 8 Graduation Trip Update

We have pushed back the final payment due date to April 30th to allow for extra fundraising opportunities. The final amount due will be adjusted accordingly.

Grade 8 Hot Chocolate

Hot chocolate sales originally scheduled for this week have been postponed and will now take place next week. We appreciate your understanding and look forward to serving up some warm treats soon!

Music Department

Our Spring Arts Show is coming on April 30th at 2:00 pm and 6:30 pm. Many students in grade 4-8 have been busy preparing for “The Muppets take Mariposa Variety Show”.  This show will feature the Mariposa Concert Band, Dance Team,Rock Choir and many actors who will take the stage. There will be an afterschool practice from 3:45-5:00 on April 20th for the Rock Choir, Actors and Dance team.  

Backstage is also important!  We are having 2 prop and set making nights.  Your child needs to be signed up if they would like to take part.  Prop/Set making night is Thursday April 9 3:45 – 5:00 and Thursday April 6th 3:45 – 5:00

Our amazing concert Band has been invited to play at the Young Musician Series for the Kawartha Art Gallery on April 15th at 7:00.  The concert is at Celebrations in Lindsay and we will also be hearing performances with Rolling Hills, LCVI and the Kawartha Lakes Youth Concert Band. Tickets are $10.

Lastly, our Concert Band has been invited to participate in the Canada Wide Music Monday program at the Academy Theatre in LIndsay on May 4th during the day.  Parents are welcome to attend in the audience, especially for performances in the morning.  A schedule will be coming out shortly.  We will be joining 5 other schools to celebrate music programs in schools in Canada!

	•	Proceeds support the Kawartha Art Gallery

The bottom of the poster includes several sponsor logos, a QR code, and the gallery’s address: 190 Kent Street West, 2nd Floor, Lindsay, Ontario.

Mariposa SOAR News and Upcoming Events

Paralympics Gold Medalist Jon Thurston has accepted the invitation from the Mariposa SOAR Group.  He will be speaking to the Grade 4-8s on Tuesday, May 19th, at 9:30 in the gym.

Additionally, the SOAR team members will be releasing information regarding upcoming Earth Day events, including the Earth Day Poster Contest, Boomerang lunch days, and recycling containers for primary students.  

There will also be a special food drive in May, and in June, SOAR students will lead the Indigenous Learning presentations, followed by the Walk for Water, a whole-school event.  Specific dates will follow.
