IEWSS Robotics team compete at the Provincial Robotics Championship

After months of dedicated hard work building a robot and advancing from the qualifying matches, which were held in March at Durham College in Oshawa and Nipissing University in North Bay, I. E. Weldon Secondary School (IEWSS) Wild WYRE (Weldon Young Robotics Engineers) 8731 advanced to the Provincial Robotics Championship.

Wild WYRE is made up of 25 Grade 9 to 12 students who compete against school teams from across the province. The championship took place in Mississauga on April 3 to 6.

“This year’s robot was bullet proof. While other teams consistently scrambled to make emergency repairs, Wild WYRE only needed to buff out a few scratches to the paint,” said IEWSS Robotics mentors Mr. Thompson, Mr. Rawlins, and Ms Vanderzwet. “Making it to the provincial tournament is an accomplishment that the team should be very proud of!”

Wild WYRE 8731 wishes to thank First Robotics along with all of their donors who helped make this accomplishment happen.
