Guest Speaker visiting our school
Jared Bigcanoe is a Cold Water Ojibwe artist, entrepreneur, and healer. As the owner of Big Canoe Indigenous Market, he provides a space for Indigenous culture, artistry, and traditional healing practices. A skilled rapper and poet, Jared weaves his heritage and life experiences into his music and writing. He also leads ceremonies, sound healing sessions, and cultural workshops, helping others reconnect with their roots. With a deep commitment to his community and traditions, Jared blends the old ways with modern expression, creating spaces for healing, learning, and artistic growth.
Parent Council
Our next School and Community Council meeting will take place on Wednesday, January 28th at 6:30 p.m. in the school library.

Operation Education – Boston Pizza Fundraiser
Support Mariposa Elementary School every time you dine at Boston Pizza (Lindsay location)—all year long!
When you visit, simply write “Mariposa ES” on the bottom of your receipt and place it in the Operation Education drop box at the host stand before you leave.
Boston Pizza will donate 5% of all food sales (excluding alcohol) back to our school.

Energy Drinks
We would like to remind families that energy drinks are not permitted at school. These beverages often contain high levels of caffeine and other stimulants that can negatively impact students’ health, focus, and well-being during the school day.
Students who bring energy drinks to school will be asked to discard them, and families may be contacted if this becomes a recurring concern. We encourage students to bring water, milk, or juice as healthier alternatives.
