March 27 – Weekly Update

Extra Clothes

Our school yard has been a bit soggy lately, and those mud puddles are looking extra tempting! To make sure every student stays comfortable and happy throughout the day, we encourage families to pack a set of extra clothes in their child’s backpack.

From wet socks to muddy shoes, having a backup outfit can turn a messy moment into just a quick change — and keep the fun going without interruption. Thanks for helping us keep our students cozy, dry, and ready to play no matter the weather!

Lost and Found

Our Lost and Found items are currently on display on tables in the front lobby for students to look through and claim any missing belongings. We encourage families to remind their child to check for lost items over the next few days.Any items that are not picked up by April 2nd will be donated. Thank you for your support in helping us return these items to their owners!

Richter’s Herbs & Spices – Affiliate Partnership!

We are excited to share some wonderful news with our Mariposa community! Our school has partnered with Richter’s Herbs & Spices — Canada’s beloved herb and plant specialists — as an official affiliate. This means that every time you shop through our school’s unique link, 10% of your order comes back to support Mariposa Elementary School.

Whether you’re planning your spring garden, picking up culinary herbs for the kitchen, or looking for something new to grow with the kids at home, Richter’s has an incredible selection of seeds, plants, dried herbs and gardening supplies.

Shop through our affiliate link here: www.richters.com/?source=afl_9693

Or scan the QR code to go directly to the store — it’s that easy!

Every order makes a difference, and the more people who use our link, the more we raise for our school. Please feel free to share this link with your friends, family, and neighbours — the more the merrier! Post it in a group chat, share it on social media, or simply pass it along by word of mouth. Every click through our link counts.

A big thank you to the wonderful team at Richter’s Herbs & Spices for supporting Mariposa Elementary School through this program. We truly appreciate their generosity and their commitment to growing community connections — one plant at a time!

2026/2027 Busing

The Ministry of Education has required all school boards to have accurate estimates on the number of students who will require and utilize transportation services. Therefore, as we plan routes for the upcoming school year, Trillium Lakelands District School Board (TLDSB) Transportation Services is asking parents/guardians whose child(ren) are eligible to opt in or opt out of transportation for the 2026-2027 school year.

This process will help TLDSB optimize transportation planning and promote efficiencies.

For families who are eligible, the deadline to complete the forms for 2026-2027 transportation is Friday, April 10.

Wondering if your child(ren) will be eligible for transportation?

Check your child(ren)’s eligibility by entering the student’s address in the “Which School do I Attend” area of mybustoschool.ca.

Next steps:

  1. Go to www.mybustoschool.ca
  2. Click on the Parent Portal

If you have a parent account:

  • Sign in and select “Online Forms and Requests” at the bottom of the page
  • Click on the Opt-In/Opt-Out Request Form
  • Select the 2026-2027 school year and complete the form fields
  • Submit the form once per child

If you do not yet have a parent account:

  • Click “Create Account”
  • Select “Online Forms and Requests” at the bottom of the page
  • Click on the Opt-In/Opt-Out Request Form
  • Select the 2026-2027 school year and complete the form fields
  • Submit the form once per child

What if my circumstances change:

If your circumstances change, leaving you needing or not needing transportation, complete the form again choosing the opt-in or opt-out drop down.

Please be advised that it may take up to two weeks for your child(ren) to be assigned a route if the student is eligible for transportation.

Troubleshooting:

If you have any issues and/or questions, contact your child’s school.

If you do not have access to the internet, or are having trouble accessing the form, please reach out to your child’s school for assistance.
