Mariposa Monarchs, we are asking all of our students to wear orange on Monday, September 30 to recognize Orange Shirt Day. Orange Shirt Day is held annually on September 30. Orange Shirt Day is to raise awareness of the tremendously detrimental impact of the Residential School System on Canada’s First Nations. This time of the year is chosen as this was the time of the year that children were removed from their homes and placed in residential schools.
