Snow Safety

Snow fun has begun at Mariposa. Most MES students have been very responsible building snow sculptures, rolling enormous snow balls and building snow forts. Please remind your children to respect the work others have put into these. It is also important to reinforce our “No throwing snow balls“ rule. We know that snow balls are lots of fun at home; however, they can be dangerous at school. Sand and salt is spread throughout the school yard to keep slippery surfaces to a minimum. This sand and salt gets mixed into the snow and can get into eyes. As well, with close to 400 pairs of feet running over it, snow gets trampled into ice and is dangerous when it is thrown.
