Holiday Concert – December 16th
We are excited to invite families to our Holiday Concert on Monday, December 16th! Students have been working hard, and we can’t wait to celebrate the season together. We will offer two performances: a 2:00 p.m. show and an evening show at 6:30 p.m.Please note that Kindergarten classes will participate in the daytime performance only. We look forward to sharing a festive and joyful afternoon and evening with our school community!
Shopper’s Delight
Our annual Shopper’s Delight sale is returning to Mariposa on December 9, 2025. This beloved event gives students the joy of selecting gifts for their family while supporting our community.
How the Sale Works:
- For Students: Students will purchase gifts for their immediate family members at 25 cents per item. Please help your child make a list of who they are shopping for.
- Mentorship: Junior and intermediate students will act as “shopping guides” for the younger classes, helping them select, wrap, and label their items for the journey home.
- The Cause: All proceeds are donated to help families right here in our Mariposa community celebrate the holidays.
How You Can Help: Donate Gifts!
We are now collecting donations for the sale. Please check your drawers, attics, and toy boxes for items that would make great gifts.
- What We Need: Clean, new, or gently-used items.
- High-Need Items: We always have a shortage of gifts for dads/males, so please keep this in mind!
- Guidelines: Please, no clothing or stuffed animals. Items should also be small enough to be carried home on the bus.

Lunch Box/Hot Lunch Update
Our burritos come from the Port Perry location. Recently, our order volume has decreased. We will need to maintain a minimum of 25 orders for them to continue to deliver to us. We are looking into the Lindsay location as well as other options available to us through the Lunchbox program, should we have to discontinue with the burrito option.

Vandemeer Orders
Vandemeer Orders
Students were sent home with information about our Vandemeer fundraiser on November 12th. This money is being raised to go back to the students for things such as playground equipment, extracurricular activities and support with trips.
Vandemeer orders need to be placed via School Cash Online by midnight on Sunday, November 23rd. Late orders will NOT be accepted. No orders will be accepted in the office, online only.
Vandemeer ordered items will be available for pick up at the school on December 16th between 4pm – 6:30pm. This is a correction from the first information sent out. Volunteers will be available after the performance to distribute items. Plants should be transported in a heated car to keep them looking their best.

Annual Macmillan’s Food Fundraiser is Here! We are delighted to announce the return of our Macmillan Food Fundraiser! This is a wonderful opportunity to stock up on delicious treats for the holidays while directly supporting Mariposa Elementary’s programs and activities.
How to Order Online: Please note: Online orders are placed directly through Macmillan, NOT School Cash Online.

- At checkout, select “Mariposa Elementary” from the drop-down menu.
- Complete the required fields (ensure you include the Student Name for tracking).
Important Deadlines (No late orders accepted):
- Paper Orders (Cash/Cheque): Due to the office by Monday, December 1st.
- Make cheques payable to: Mariposa Elementary School.
- Online Orders: Must be placed by Tuesday, December 2nd.
Pickup Information: Orders will be ready for pickup on December 16th (alongside the Vandermeer plant orders). You may pick up between 4:00 PM – 6:30 PM or immediately following the evening Christmas Concert.
Glove & Mitten Donations Needed
As the colder weather settles in, we’re hoping to support students who may need an extra pair of warm hands this winter. We are accepting new or gently used gloves and mittens to keep our school community cozy during outdoor play.
Please note that we are not collecting hats at this time—just gloves and mittens.

Attention Grade 4-8 Mariposa Families
The Mariposa SOAR Group is collecting donations for the Shoe Box Project
It is a national group supporting women at risk over the holiday season with small gift boxes.
Mariposa Elementary is an official drop-off centre. SOAR Group members listened to Kerri Murphy speak about the importance of this project last week. New items requested include shampoo, lip gloss, fuzzy socks, mitts, and peanut-free treats. Please visit the link for more information.
